Designing covers that help authors build lasting careers and connections.

I’ve been a professional designer for 25 years, and for many of those years, I’ve helped authors and publishers create strong first impressions, developing lasting brands, and craft visual identities that support their storytelling goals for the long haul.

My work spans indie publishing, small presses, and traditional imprints alike. Over the years I’ve worked with bestselling authors like Hugh Howey (Wool, Sand, and more), Max Allan Collins (Supreme Justice), Annie Bellet (Goodnight, Apocalypse), Gary Whitta (Abomination), and many others. I’ve worked closely with publishers including Subterranean Press, Prime Books, 47North, Thomas & Mercer, and more.

Whether I’m creating a cover for a debut indie novel or crafting a limited edition hardcover series for collectors, my focus remains the same: To design covers that aren’t just beautiful, but strategic. Covers that connect, endure, and elevate the stories they represent.

As an author myself, with books on both sides of the publishing experience, I understand the emotions authors feel about their work, and I balance that with an understanding of ever-changing markets, reader expectations, and commercial goals.

I live and work on a hill in Scappoose, Oregon, where I write, play the drums, collect pencils and wristwatches, and spend as much time as I can with my family and our three cats. I’m currently working on a new novel. You can learn more about me and my books at jasongurley.com.

Whether you’re preparing to launch your next book or reimagining your backlist for new audiences, I’d love to help you build something lasting.
